The Pamela Trokanski Dance Theatre is a post-modern, contemporary dance company based in Davis, California. Since its first concert in spring 1985, PTDT has presented both fall and spring concerts each year, premiering new works and maintaining repertory for over 30 years under the direction of Pamela Trokanski. Complimenting their work in concert, PTDT is committed to community outreach. In addition to producing the annual Davis Dance Project (since 1997) which children 12 and younger attend for free, PTDT funds free classes for people 65 and older as well as free classes for people with Parkinson's Disease and their caregivers. Under PTDT's umbrella are the Apprentice Company and The Third Stage.
The Third Stage Dance Company met with strong community support and critical acclaim when they debuted in spring 1994. As Northern California’s only multi-generational contemporary concert company, with dancers ranging in age from 8 - 80+, its work is a testament to Trokanski's intrinsic belief that dance is not the sole property of a technically trained elite but a form of expression, communication, and creativity that belongs to all people.
The PTDT Apprentice Company is comprised of younger dancers working towards the higher demands of technique and performance required by the main company. Formed in 2009, they perform alongside PTDT dancers.
Light Ballet Company is our newest company, entering its third season in 2020-2021. In 2018, Trokanski named long time PTDW faculty member, Taylor Herrera, to be the Artistic Director. As a "sister" company to the PTDT, they performed at several of the concerts last year including Ephemera & The Little Prince and the 2019 Davis Dance Project.
